Garmin Points of Interest CD Adds Options to MapSource Line

May 7, 2001

OLATHE, Kan. — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), a leading manufacturer of GPS-enabled navigation, information and communication devices, has unveiled the latest addition to its MapSource line of products — the Points of Interest CD-ROM.

"We had consumers with multiple interests in mind when we developed this CD," said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s director of marketing. "So whether you are driving your car, navigating your boat, or traveling abroad — you will get greater utility from your GARMIN unit."

The Points of Interest CD offers four different options, depending on the consumer’s needs — (1) Worldwide cities; (2) Business listings for the U.S. and Canada; (3) Geographic points of interest; and (4) Marine navaids. The CD provides location data for nearly 100,000 cities around the world. Plus, it lists 1.25 million business addresses and phone numbers for establishments in the U.S. and Canada ranging from restaurants, hotels and local attractions to shopping centers, local services and government listings. The CD also incorporates another popular feature found on other MapSource products — exit services for the continental United States. General geographic points of interest, such as bridges, lakes and islands, are available in text form. Boaters will appreciate the variety of marine navaids, including boat ramps, marinas, campgrounds and more than 20,000 worldwide navaids, like wrecks, obstructions, and tide station data.

This MapSource CD-ROM is most compatible with several new GARMIN products — all of which contain WAAS capabilities — including the eTrex Venture, GPS 76 and GPS 152.

The MapSource Points of Interest CD is expected to deliver in the second quarter of 2001 with a suggested retail price of $58.32.
