OLATHE, Kan. — Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd. (Nasdaq: GRMN), today announced that it has signed a new long-term license agreement with Nautical Data International, Inc. (NDI) for rights to its entire library of digital marine cartography.

"NDI has always offered high-quality electronic charts for boaters in Canada," said Gary Kelley, Garmin’s Director of Marketing. "We’re pleased to announce that our agreement with NDI allows us access to the most detailed, comprehensive, and accurate charts available for mariners in Canadian waters."

The new NDI data will appear in Garmin’s latest revision of its MapSource® BlueChart® marine cartography software. In addition to already covering the entire coast of British Columbia, Garmin now offers enhanced coverage of Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Ontario, North Channel, Georgian Bay and Lake of the Woods / Rainy Lake. This newest version of BlueChart data is currently available in data card format, and will be available on Americas BlueChart CD-ROM in September 2003.

BlueChart is Garmin's exclusive marine cartography, featuring digital maps that closely match paper charts and feature depth contours, spot soundings, port plans, inter-tidal zones, wrecks, navaids, restricted areas, cable areas, anchorages, tide prediction, port services and much more.

" NDI is very pleased to have partnered with one of the world’s leading GPS and chart plotter developers who also has some of the most innovative cartography products available today," stated Mohammad Al Zaibak, CEO of Nautical Data International, Inc. "Garmin’s MapSource BlueChart software combined with NDI’s DigitalOcean® Charts will provide our customers in Canada and the USA with the most technologically-advanced navigation aids."
