Beg your pardon, but it is not true. You can manage it offline easily
Sorry, I obviously misunderstood. When you wrote "That's true!" what were you referring to exactly? Which aspects of the TwoNav can be managed offline?

Also, you wrote that "use of OSM maps is limited in TwoNav" - is that because it doesn't support vector maps, only raster?

I have no objection in principle to raster mapping, so long as I can find free custom maps that I can load on. They'll take up more space, I imagine, so any device would either have to have a lot of built-in storage or have an SD card slot.

Namely: e.g. copying files via the File Manager, Land, Garmin Basecamp (the TwoNav unit is visible as an external disc).

No, both are supported - they are called: VMAP (vector) and RMAP (raster), though it RMAP is more suitable. In contrary, the Garmin is more vector-centric, whereas the Birdseye or Custom KMZ raster use is limited.

No, the RMAP (raster) format is compressed.

BTW, for more details, I recommend to see TwoNav Land tutorials in the Internet and the home website.

Be patient with me :)

Just FYI I have been using the TwoNav website to search for information and general web searches too. I don't find anything that suggests the TwoNav devices would meet my requirements.

For example, you said
Marko wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:26 am You can manage it [TwoNav] offline easily.
But on the TwoNav website the First Steps support page demonstrates that the first thing a user should (must?) do is connect to Wi-Fi and log in.

So, is this login process not necessary? What can I do on the device if I don't log in?

You also said
Marko wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:26 am use of OSM maps is limited
but then
Marko wrote: Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:26 am both [raster and vector maps] are supported - they are called: VMAP (vector) and RMAP (raster), though it RMAP is more suitable
This is confusing - do the TwoNav devices support OSM maps or not? If they do, what did you mean by 'limited'?

You can read Test: TwoNav Cross, Trail 2 (Bike), Aventura 2, Garmin GPSMap 65s, where these devices are reviewed and compared.
Use Google Translate to translate it from German to English.

Generally there are very few relations or opinions about using TwoNav devices. Personally I wouldn't buy anything on Android, WearOS, etc. to use it outdoor.

If you or @dont_panic want to know the users' experience, there is a "Wiessenbasis" by Loudini (Ask ChatGPT.
Additionally, there is a very vigour forum at

Apart from the TwoNav website, there is also the Naviboard, German forum with plenty of the CompeGPS/TwoNav users' experiences:

BTW, the TwoNav is currently built on the Linux.
For me, this system is equally good as Garmin's, but made in Europe.
