Using Old style spine clips on H1

Unread post by MikeD »

I was dismayed that my old spine clips for pre-H1 devices would not fit on the new one
I have modified a number of my old clips to fit. I found it a relatively simple job using a small flat Swiss file and a rotary sanding/ grinding burr in a Dremel
I attach two photographs , on the left-hand side of the spine fitting you need to grind away some of the plastic.
On the right hand side you need to deepen the slots that engages the “wings “ on the device
Having done three or four of these now I find that you need to file away the plastic in stages, offer it up and see how the clip slides over the wings. Filing a little and often was best.
Note that the fit is “an interference fit“ it will not clip in. It will slide in and tighten as you go
You can make it as tight as you wish, none of my modifications have parted in use so far

I should have added that this modification does not affect the use of modified clips with the pre-H1 units.
They fit a snuggly as before and still clip in
