Custom POIs clutter map view [Requested Feature 4]

Hi there,

I recently bought a GPSMAP H1 and a eTrex Touch 2. So far I'm quite happy with it.

But I have the following questions/problem which was completely different on earlier GPS (Oregon and old eTrex):

• Having custom POIs installed (coming from gsak actually) are cluttering the map view when zooming out, I didn't find a way to disable the POIs from displaying or, would be even better, defining the zoom level when they appear
• On the old eTrex and Oregon they were not displayed below (zooming out) a specific zoom level

I use a gsak macro to create a ggz file containing all the caches and additionally

• install the child waypoints as gpi (essential)
• add some attributes also as gpi (I could live without that)

Now the questions are:

• is this a bug ?
• is there a setting somewhere (either when creating the gpi files in gsak or on the H1 itself) that I missed ?
• How do you handle installing geocaches from gsak (or something else)... I've noticed that LiveDownload installs them all as normal Waypoints (with the drawback that there is a limit in the number of normal waypoints)

There is an option under Map Layers that lets you toggle "waypoints" on/off but nothing for map-embedded or custom POIs. I don't know if the "waypoints" layer will affect custom POI's...

There is no "hide/show various map points at a user selected zoom level" feature. The feature no longer exists on the newest handhelds.
Bottom line is that Garmin (in their infinte wisdow) chose to omit the feature.

This is silly though because it was common as dirt on ALL Garmin handhelds...(even the first Street Pilot automotive units from waaay back had it) Garmin removed it recently from the top-of-the-line handhelds. Now if you want it back, Garmin has stated in their official GPSMAP H1 forum that it should be submitted to them as a suggestion at their "Ideas" page. However, It's likely (going by Garmin's track record which I've been exposed to for decades now) that the feature MAY return...but likely in a hardware upgrade (buy a new Garmin handheld to get it).

Still, it won't hurt to try to submit your idea/suggestion. It could return...

I have seen the 'waypoints' toggle on the Map Layers. There one can not only toggle waypoints on/off but also set a senseful zoom level for them. Unfortunately it does exactly what it says: it toggles only 'normal' waypoints, not POIs (named 'User Waypoints' earlier on my Oregon).

I've placed the following Feature Request on Garmin's 'Share Ideas' page as suggested. Before pasting it looked like shown below (after pasting all new lines got removed and it looks awful, barely readable

Feature Request (Re-add earlier existing Feature):
Re-add the possibility for setting the zoom level where custom POI are shown.

I have bought an eTrex Touch 2 (2025 version) and a GPSMap H1.
I'm a heavy user of custom POI not only for geocaching child (additional) waypoints, but also for other reasons.
If I am on a map view and zoom out the map gets cluttered with showing all the custom POI (custom waypoints). They are always shown, independent of the zoom level. The map below isn't visible anymore.

On earlier GPS (Oregon, and others) this was possible in the settings (Taken from Oregon 650t(:
Setup/Map/Advanced Setup/Zoom Controls/Zoom Levels/User Waypoints:
Possible values there: Auto, 5m, 8m, 10, ....

Having custom POIs shown always independent of the zoom level has to be considered as a intolerable bug which renders the map view useless when zooming out to get an overview.
