I recently purchased a used eTrex 30x with a card installed. It worked perfectly for two weeks, but now it can no longer write to its internal flash drive. It reads maps, waypoints, tracks, and routes from the card, but refuses to save waypoints or other data (it reports a "database error"). Basecamp, however, can read the data from the SD card, but the eTrex cannot. I tried formatting the files on the internal drive and replacing them with the copies I created when I received the device. I also tried a factory reset. It appears to be a bad chip or some other software issue, but I'm not sure what else to do. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks for any help.

Re: Garmin etrex 30x broken internal writing chip?
I want to help, but I am having trouble understanding.
Your comments, "It reads maps, waypoints, tracks, and routes from the card," and "Basecamp, however, can read the data from the SD card, but the eTrex cannot." seem contradictory.
Also, "I tried formatting the files on the internal drive" could be a huge issue if you are indicating that you used a host computer to reformat internal device memory.
Please try to provide clearer details.
