I also noticed that My “North up“ Map setting had changed to track up.
Also My setting for day/night mode had changed to auto. I have it on day mode all the time.
  • The map glance issues should resolve after a restart or two.
  • It is not uncommon for a device update to cause some settings to revert to default values.

Thanks for your last post
Yes after 5 reboots the mush has gone
As regards the software/ hard ware issue. In my last problem the software could not even have been reloaded. In the diagnostics led by Garmin the H1 was not recognised by my PC. They decided there was no where to go hence replacement
Thanks

Has the new GPS 8.01 software improved the accuracy?

I still haven't received this update and not sure why. I've been checking everyday and just checked now but Garmin express is telling my I have no updated available (currently on version 6.04).

Did a walk today, around 5km in suburban area. Displayed accuracy on Multi-GNSS + Multi-Band seemed to vary between 2.1m and 2.4m. On Auto Select and with multi-band off, accuracy seemed to pretty constant at 3.0m. Not sure if it's any better or worse than previous firmware versions. Recorded activity also looks similar to previously recorded activities of the same loop.

One thing I noticed is that the unit seems to get a fix more easily when inside. I know, not a representative situation for measuring accuracy, but with the previous firmware versions I would almost never get a fix when inside.

Unfortunately, I didn't listen to you and bought the GPS. Today, on my first hike ~15 km, it froze twice. At the end of the hike, neither BaseCamp nor MapSource could read the saved GPX track. Temp sensor was connected the whole time, but it's not in the FIT file. The new H1 GPS is a big disappointment.

Does anybody with an H1 tried to install "cusom icons", as this was introduced with version 7.07?

...
Added support for waypoint and geocache symbol overrides
...

I tried this, but then my H1 was so screwed up, that it had to be replaced by Garmin.

Today I did another 22 km hike. The H1 gps restarted several times at irregular intervals. Neither BaseCamp nor MapSource could read the saved GPX file. Unfortunately it is completely unusable.
