Specifications GPS 12 MAP

Based on the GPS 12 brochure I assumed that all models had the same screen size and resolution (64 x 100) (also mentioned on your website).
Yesterday I acquired a GPS 12MAP for my collection, and I noticed right away that the screen is slightly bigger than the screen of the GPS 12. After turning it on the resolution was clearly higher. Luckily the xImage app is compatible with this model, so I didn't have to count the pixels manually. The real resolution is 100 x 160.
As for the size it's a bit difficult to measure comparing to what Garmin states in the specifications, but the opening between the black borders is 4 mm higher and 2 mm wider.
The image on the brochure is different from the one on the manual, the latter is the right one. Or maybe there was a revision of this model?

At some point, I had found a specification listing somewhere that indicted the smaller screen size for some of these GPS 12 models, but now I cannot seem to find it.

Have you seen anything similar?

Slightly off topic: I did recently acquire a *mint* GPS 12CX in museum quality condition, and it is fully operational. I was even able to update the clock so it shows the correct date and time! And, I can see the screen is slightly smaller when compared to my GPS 38, for example.

No, I haven't seen a listing with screen sizes, other than the brochure for the 12 series that states that the screens of all the models have the same dimensions.
The screen of the GPS38 and GPS40 is slightly higher than that of the GPS12 and GPS12XL, 1.3 mm. The width is the same. So you should compare it with the 12.
The size of the color screen could be different though. It looks like Garmin uses 'off the shelf' screens, resulting in different sizes, resolutions and aspect ratios between monochrome and color versions. Just look at the following devices:
GPSMAP 76S: 180x240, 2.9"
GPSMAP 76 CSx: 160x240, 2.7"
GPSMAP 196: 210x240, 3.8"
GPSMAP 296: 480x320, 3.75"
StreetPilot: 240x160, 4"
StreetPilot Colormap: 240x128, 3.75"
