I haven't seen this personally. Last time I downloaded maps via the Map Manager, there would be a message that the downloaded map is being processed (don't remember the exact wording), which takes a while without any feedback if the map file is large. When that completes the map is available to use. Maybe the behaviour has changed between firmware updates.
Agreed, it says "indexing maps please wait" or something like it, it doesn't reboot then.

Another bug- I just noticed "more data" had been switched off the trip computer screen so I couldn't see the device odometer (15.2miles) this is the first time it's happened.

They should employ me to sit there and play with the gps in R&D, if anyone can find the bugs it's me!

Please see GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 > Main Menu > Trip Computer to better understand the 'More Data' function.

Don't know how familiar you are with Garmin products, but the GPSMAP 67 doesn't always work the way you expect it. Most of the times it works as designed (but don't ask me who designed it that way in the first place...), but there also things that don't work as they should. Check GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 > Common Issues for a list of known issues, many of those have been reported by users frequenting this forum.

Do the above steps reboot anyone else's 67?
Also it did crash the same before I added the sd card and downloaded the extra before I really took notice of what caused it.
I played around a bit with spell searching some POIs (from Find > All POIs) but I wasn't able to get the device to crash like you described. But it can very well be related to the user's current location because search will look for nearest your location.
Offpiste wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 12:13 pm I also find the topoActive layer turns off when I search about the map in Scotland.
Can you provide a bit more info on this? What actions are you performing and what exactly happens?
Offpiste wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 12:13 pm Also if I'm looking about the map and decide to download the satellite image when I select the "download maps here" it returns to the map in a different location so I have to zoom out and find the location again.
I also tried this, and did not see what you described. If I start at the map page, move to a different location than my current, and then use Download Maps Here, the map view stays at the location where I moved the cursor to after finishing the download.

If I am on the map page, and then use Find to show the location of a waypoint, POI, etc and then start a map download, then the map page will go back to my current location when download finishes (which makes kind of sense because the map view showing a waypoint etc is a different view than what the map page shows).

A new one today, somehow I managed on the map manager page to have switches so I could disable maps, so thinking I'd try it I disabled all but Europe.
Now when I go back into map manager the toggle switches are gone and I can't re enable the maps.

Tried absorts but can't get the toggle switches back.
I'm not deleting them and redownloadjng them.

Any ideas?

Edit - I deleted japan and redownloaded it and it's back enabled.
Can't believe that's the only way to recover today's shitshow.

@offpiste

Please take some time to learn how the device works before you rant on and on about all its failings, which can often be a simple case of user error.

For example:

TopoActive maps are not enabled/disabled with toggles from the Map Manager page, they are enabled in the Map Page Map Layers Menu.

I'm fully aware of the toggle to turn off topoactive, what I'm saying is that there was a toggle switch in map manager-> topoactive maps. Under "add" there is a list of topoactive maps. Next to each map "was" a toggle switch, I only saw them once, when I went back they were gone hence unableing any detail in maps.

I wasn't try to disable ALL the topoactive maps, just the ones I wasn't looking at.

I tried to take a screen shot but even that feature defaults to off on a power cycle so I couldn't. Should I have to turn on in main menu->setup->display-> screen capture to toggle on everytime I touch it?

I have never seen 'toggles' in the Map Manager > TopoActive Maps page list. There are toggles for maps listed in the top level Map Manager page list.

Garmin handheld devices with the ability to load TopoActive maps directly, such as the GPSMAP 67, only allow the user to enable/disable them all as a 'map set' from the Map > Menu > Map Layers selections.

Yes, this feature auto disables at each power cycle because on some devices it can prevent access to critical features if left enabled.

How much of GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 have you explored?

I landed here on gpsrchive ->67 about a month ago, went through all the menus etc relating to this device. So quite a bit, you should see my I address in your logs probably over a month before making the purchase.
