Well it didn't need to be aggressive, or last 30 seconds. :D few seconds of normal consecutive keypress would trigger it, in recording mode.

Setup -> Altimeter is set to calibrate ONCE.
Setup -> Recording is on auto, with most number of points I believe during the test.

I think it is possible for Garmin to filter this out...

I have auto-recording set to OFF, so I always explicitly start an activity (once the GPS readings are good). And I noticed after I start the activity (via ENTER), the elevation always drops a tiny bit, now I know why.. same reason.

It doesn't seem to happen when I am not recording an activity. But I know the elevation field does get updated, as when I drive around with the GPS in non recording mode, the elevation does change. So I assume this means in recording mode, the elevation readings are more sensitive?
