The scale bar width appears to be different on various zoom levels. This is for example for zoom level of 50m. Didn't check whether the width of the bar matches the distances on the map for the selected zoom level. Same behavior as on my GPSMAP 67.

In my opinion the line should have a constant size, when you change the zoom the numerical value changes, so the constant size fits any zoom, but maybe there is a slight change when you change the zoom.

I would have expected the line to be a constant size as well, but the difference is noticeable when you switch through the different zoom levels, especially in the lower zoom levels (around 1km).

Maybe there is some reason for it? I don’t know. And as long as the size of the line matches the actual distance for the selected zoom level it should be fine I guess.

The touch screen allows for intermediate settings, e.g. between 50 m and 30 m, and it is possible to set the zoom, e.g. 45 m or 35 m, maybe this has some influence (I don't know if it's possible to set intermediate zooms in H1, but such a possibility may exist).

Just checked this, but the touch screen on the H1 doesn't allow for intermediate settings for the zoom level. The zoom level always "snaps" to one of the available levels (eg. 5m, 8m, 12m, 20m, 30m, 50m, etc).

This option may only apply to touch controls (pinch).

I checked using pinch, not via the zoom control buttons on the screen.

Thank you for the email, JungleJim! For some reason, the service will not accept my email response as it is declared 'spam'.

At any rate, I think we can conclude the width of the Scale Bar on the Map page is dynamic and varies based on undocumented conditions we do not fully understand.

Probably not worth the time to test every zoom level with various map types enabled and disabled to catalog the values.
