Please see H1 english v4 manual page 65th "Temperature: The temperature of the air. Your body temperature affects the temperature sensor. Your device must be connected to a tempeā„¢ sensor for this data to appear."

The Tempe sensor works with the H1, but the temperature data is not stored in the recorded activity.

Garmin Support answer:
Where the 66SR may have done this automatically, the GPSMAP H1 requires you to set up a data field for temperature for the activity profile once your Tempe sensor has been connected.
I made it, but no temperature in the FIT file :(

I think you will discover over time that most Garmin support staff have very little knowledge about the products they are supposed to be helping with.

I suspect the FIT file Tempe data issue will be resolved soon.

The issue is locating where the sensor is still available.

That's true, Garmin doesn't produce and sell the Tempe anymore. So if you're lucky you can maybe find a retailer that still has some stock or someone selling a second hand Tempe on eBay or other marketplaces, but chances for that are quite slim I believe.

Alternatively you could look into the RuuviTag or RuuviTag Pro, and the (paid) ConnectIQ Data Field that's available and compatible with the H1. I personally don't have any experience with the RuuviTag, so I can't tell you how well it works.
