Garmin Product Support emailed me to say that the updated TopoActive map was ready to install.

I had already deleted the two TopoActive img files. The new map files installed uneventfully using GEx. These work fine on my 66st and after being loaded into the BC cache, work fine on BaseCamp too and the connection error has now disappeared, so everything appears to be back to normal.

I am pleased to report after 24hrs. the message for update has gone away.
Had the GPS connected to the Laptop before I started GE. After 10 mins. no more message for an update.
Both on the 66 and 22x.
Till next time......

Could I ask how long it takes for your 66 to mount with Windows File Explorer already opened from inserting the USB to seeing the device drive with its custom icon. With the corrupt TOPOActive map it took just under 11 minutes, which is why I originally thought it was not mounting at all. With the new TOPOActive install, it still takes 4 minutes 45 sec with a green loading bar.

If I remove both the new TOPOActive maps to my hard drive, it takes under a minute. In all cases the mSD card was read before the device.

Probably just long the first time, then remove, power cycle, reconnect, should be much quicker, so long as you have not made any changes.
