So I tried with Windows XP, firmware 3.90 updated again and using MapSource to upload a map, which I downloaded from GPSfiledepot.com. The map is a file, which I install first on the PC and after that I can see the map in MapSource or BaseCamp.
Before 3.90 updates, I don't have an idea what was the previous firmware, i did the same steps and I had a map on my device, but now, still no map on the display.
I'll try to upload pictures, hope trough the forums rules :)
Well, my last questions are:
1. No map on the display means there is an active map installed on the device or I should wait for the satelites first?
2. If anybody has the same device(Garmin Etrex Legend), please let me know your way to upload maps, step by step?

Regards!

How did you load the map to the eTrex?

You only mention loading the map to the computer.

Once the map is available in MapSource, you still need to send the portion you want to the eTrex.

Well, finally decided to tey with some difderent map from same forum . . .
Very strange, using G7toWin, it is showing a map installed on the device :), but on it's display is still no map indication :(
What does it mean if G7toWin shows there is a map, but on the device it is missing?!

Of course I sent a portion to the device, for sure!

Check if MapSource will read maps from the device.

It is possible to check if there is a map in the device, connect the device to the computer,
start MapSource, then "Receive maps from device" - you can disable the reception of routes, tracks and points.

In fact, the map will not be downloaded from the device to MapSource, the map area that is on the device will be highlighted.

Hi,
I tried to receive map from the device and the map was been downloaded to MapSource.
So 100% the map is installed on the device but why it can't run it?!?!?
Before 3.90 it was visiable . . .

Repeating the previous question: which software an OS are you using? I use Windows XP and MapSource 6.13.7 (and G7ToWin), old software that works best with old hardware. Using Windows 10 or 11 may very well cause problems.

Regarding downgrading: I'm not aware of a site that has older firmware versions of very old devices like this eTrex Legend.
Where I can find MapSource 6.13.7?
Now I can find only the last update 6.16.3 . . .

The map names displayed by G7toWin are maps
that you have recently tried to install on your device?

The map sent to the device replaces the map on the device (overwrites), in your case, this does not happen.

You can try to send the map with another program or remove the map with a program that has such an option.

Try sending the map in the link to the device, no program is needed to send this map,
connect the device to the computer and click on the file called EuropeSic - maybe you can overwrite the map.
