What actually happens when you turn off the altimeter calibration? Are the values still so high? Has anyone already tested this?

I assume that will definitely make it in accurate as the elevation won't be calibrated when you start your walk and sometimes needs calibrating if it hasn't been turned on for a while. Gotta give the 67 it's due the altimeter reading your exact height when at a place is the most accurate of all the Garmin GPS devices I've had, it's just for some reason it messes your total ascent and descent up on walk on connect.

Good man! I spoke to Garmin again today on support chat, they said there has been an issue logged concerning this issue with the 67 on their system but they had no update for me. So at least the issue is logged and they assured me there will be a fix out in due course and will definitely be sorted. It's just a matter of time...

Hopefully it won't be to long!

My experience is that the ascent and descent end up more or less equal on a circular walk. It's not just on connect that the data is wrong, it appears inflated on screen which is where I have the issue although the track data is accurate.

i've just taken a look back at my Connect account from walks I did when I first got the device and it was on 4.70 software and the ascent and descent readings were spot on! So defo firmware related it seems.

Almost always, this is the case.

Garmin produces excellent hardware. Their software, however, is usually an unfinished 'work in progress' that is frequently abandoned before completion.

Yep a mixture of rush it out and hope for the best! This 100% needs fixing though or what's the point of the device... If it isn't fixed within a few months mine will be going on eBay!

It seems lately that a newly announced update fixes one problem but causes another. I'm convinced the company has little or no quality control and relies on us owner/users to test and report the seemingly endless product shortcomings. I've been using a laptop computer and a smart TV every day for the last three years, neither device has ever had any function unusable due to a software or hardware problem. A sharp contrast to the Garmin GPS receivers I purchased for the same (or more) money over a similar time period. With their massive number of watches offered, correcting faults on handhelds appears to be an afterthought and not a priority for Garmin. Over the years, I've been a dedicated purchaser, user and supporter of many of Garmin's GPS receivers. I think my GPSMAP 67 will be the last I'll purchase from Garmin. Age and health has played a small role in my decision but frustration finally won out.

I've now asked my Garmin dealer if he can send me a new 67 with the FW 4.70 and if I can return the other one with the 6.60 to him. so that he can send it back to Garmin as a defective device. Maybe the Garmin people will learn it that way
