Yes I agree, it seems like Garmin's main focus now is the smart watches namely the Fenix/Epix range. I'm surprised they still make handhelds given the small market for them and the fact everyone does everything on their phone and smart watch now. I mean my Epix wipes the floor with the 67 for the accruacy on a walk in terms of ascent and descent. I did a walk today with the epix and 67 the epix read 453ft ascent abd 462 ft ascent, the 67 on the same route recorded 1332ft ascent and 1336 descent there is absolutely NO way on the route I did there was anywhere near 1000ft ascent, yeah there's a few ups and downs but not massive the Epix was bang on with what my 65s recorded on this route within a few ft of each other, the 67 is a bit of a joke now for the newest most expensive handheld. I just feel like selling on as I can't see Garmin fixing it, I've messaged a few times this last week to keep chasing the issue and they keep asking me the same generic questions and to send the same crap to them to show the differences as I have already sent before! I have no hope this will get fixed at all!

Out of interest are all the people with this issue just on the 67 or is it the 67i aswell?

I got in contact with Garmin to chase them up to see if they're working on it, and they've just offered me a new device on 4.70, do I take it and not update it? Hmmm

My new one with 4.70 is currently on the slopes and has climbed 4080m. According to the mountain railways' "altitude game" I climbed 4200m today.

I would take it and update it to at most 4.80 and then always wait until more is known about an update. If you don't have to return the old one, you can use the old one as "always up to date" for tests.

As far as I am aware you can't update to 4.80, it will automatically put 6.60 on if you update it always updates to the newest software. I had a 67 last year it ran fine on 4.70! I look back on my activities when it was on 4.70 and the ascent and descent was absolutely spot on! Have you plugged your new device into express at all?

Ahh right didn't know you could do that, I always thought Express just updated and to what ever the latest version of software is (even if you've missed updates between what you have and the latest.

Just posted my device off back to Garmin via the UPS shipping label they gave me again, this will be my 4th brand new device from Garmin! But not a chance it's seeing software 6.60!

If I plug it into express will it try and update to 6.60 ie next time I turn the device on say "there is a software update to install">

You simply can't press a button in Express that says Install. So don't install Topo Active Update either

I find when they're new devices they need to plugging into Express to pick up the latest sat files or they take for ever to pick up a signal and sometimes don't pick up a signal fully so some of the satellites don't work.

I won't bother with topo update, I never use them so no point having them on the device taking up most of the memory.

Just wondering it it will be safe to plug into Express to register the device to me without it updating the software .

I had no problems with the satellites without using Express.

The whole thing is designed so that users have to start an update. So Garmin is fine if they publish a faulty firmware, it's the user's fault.
I connected it to Express and it didn't update me, but it shows the updates. But I have to start it manually, I don't need synchronization.
