Is there a way to downgrade gps module?Jetson wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 5:23 pm I dont care about version, until everything working fine, unfortunately. But actual is 5.80 for Dakota and 5.00 for GPS module. The same result is for Dakota 20. Just positions of satellites are different, because time in devices isn't same.

Only way to load older GPS module software would be to load older GPS Firmware version, and even then we are not certain the GPS software would also revert to older version.

Do you know which firmware you had before ?Jetson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 3:50 pm Any news? I have Dakota 10 and also Dakota 20 and both after upgrade to 5.80 software version, never acquire satellites (as wrote here). I returned until 4.1 version, but lower version with other version of GPS firmware (present 5.0), impossible to downgrade...

I redid all my attemps today.Jetson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 16, 2022 3:50 pm Any news? Computer with Windows XP.
Downloaded RGN files from older firmwares than 4.1, doesn't flash.
GCD, minimum version is beta 4.04, bellow that doesn't go, stuck on loader.
Till 4.04, gps shows me gps firmware 5.0
Isn't there a way to force flash?

Are you following the process listed at GPSrChive > Dakota > Miscellaneous > Forced Firmware Upgrade?

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
here is what I've done (my workflow)
Downloaded a bunch of RGNs,GCDs, exes from different sources:
Perry's site (using webarchive), GPSrChive and Iogrea, together with webarchive for the recovery file
Went downgrading firmwares from 5.80, till 4.1 via GCD files. All seamless.
Although, in the "about" section, the gps software is still 5.0...and it doesn't get a fix.
Under 4.1 , I tried beta 4.04 (using webupdater.exe), all good, version under it don't flash. Stuck on Loader Loading.
Decided to try RGN Flashing a go.
Open RGNTool 0.94, and opened the various RGNs I downloaded. Out of it, only the ones in "recovery packages" like this one worked, all others said "this is not a valid GCD file" . If I convert a GCD to RGN, RGN tool opens it fine.
Decide to try to use RGN tool to flash RGN under 4.0, no go, stuck on Loader loading, and updater.exe
Downloaded g7towin to retriev HWID.
First thing I noticed, it says software version 5.2, while it is running firmware 4.1
I've tried all this both in windows 7 64bit and windows XP 32bit. Different Cables.
Reading this, makes me think it may have similar issue, and could be software.
So I guess something is not ok, and that I am missing something.

Re: Dakota 10 doesn't acquire satellites
Are you able to get screen captures from the Dakota > Setup > About page showing the loaded software versions? Please share these with the GarminDevice.xml file from the \Garmin\ directory.
