If I do download additional maps via 'Add Satellite Imagery', I can't show them. If I do open them in 'Outdoor Maps+', only City Navigator is shown for the downloaded cutout, but not any Satellite Imagery. Firmware 14.80.

I was able to recreate this. I adjusted the brightness level and was able to see the imagery.

I only see the imagery when i use the Map Layer button (on the right of the shown map in the picture above) en choose "satellite"

Same here - when selected as a visible layer, imagery appears, when not selected it does not.

However, displayed layers are a bit flaky after device is restarted - it's not the same set that was selected/visible when I turn off the device.

I guess, this is my problem. I can't enable it. After enabling it, it disables automatically.

ConiKost, please disable all other maps manually other than Basemap, and retest. I suspect you may have another map that is interfering.

I did now a test. I have removed my SD card (where all maps expect City Navigator are stored).
I also did disabled City Navigator, so only Worldwide Basemap is shown.

Unfortunately, it did not changed anything. BirdsEye maps are still not shown.

I do wonder, could be this related to

Subscription not required for satellite imagery.

This was a bug, which has been fixed by firmware 15.10 back then. The changelog fits the issue.
