Inverting Routes

I must have changed something because when I upload a route from Basecamp the option to invert the route no longer appears.
I recently set a route for a cycle tour that was a loop. However, to my surprise the 67 routed me down a road that was a shortcut and not the route that I intended to follow. In order to fix this I set, under options in Basecamp, "Always match route to the map on my device when transfering". This seemed to do the trick but the route was not invertable on the device. I took this to mean that the route was hard wired into the device
However, after setting Basecamp back to "Strip shaping points....", I uploaded another route but the option to invert the route is no longer there.
Invertable routes are essential for another use I have for the device so I need that option back.
Any help appreciated.
