How do I turn off some POIs in the map

When I'm searching the maps, say Japan the map is covered in hospital H signs and the toilet symbol, how do I select the POIs I want to see?

I know about from the map page press menu->map setup->advance setup->detail [most -least] but I'm not trying to take off the bars and entertainment.

Where can I select and choose which POI are visible?

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of potential POI categories and icons that can be displayed as part of an IMG map, or as part of a POI (GPI) file, or even as part of a GPX file (usually referred to as waypoints).

Garmin does not include any functionality to pick and choose which POI will display on the Map page beyond the detail setting you have already discovered.

However, when searching for a specific POI, the user can filter POI results by category.

I'd add that as a function on the top level, I like to search the map to find interesting bars and entertainment, it's made very difficult with the rest of the symbols completely covering some sections of road when zoomed out, having to load every single poi in a large city can make just a simple zoom or scroll can make a 30 second lag happen each time it needs to reload the map.

Even tom-tom had selectable poi to display 25 years ago, I'd expect to see it in modern gps devices if they contain poi especially in the market leader like garmin.

It would be nice to be able to select and deselect the items in the "find" menu to make map loading quicker and removing seldom used POI

Controlling the display of points can be done not only through the map detail option

- in the Zoom levels option you can turn off the display of map points (all) and using the Where to? option.

To indicate a point, you can use the Search Near option, which allows several options for searching for a point, e.g. we choose to search for a point near the indicated point on the map, indicate the point by moving the map, accept (Use), then select a category (e.g. Geographic point), select a point from the list and press Go.

The point icons will not be displayed on the map screen, but the selected point will be indicated using the search engine.
