FYI,

Our Montana 7x0, running firmware v22.70, just erased all of our user data (vector maps, custom maps, photos, adventures, waypoints, tracks, routes, courses, geocaches, POi's, etc.) from the installed microSD card.

Be certain all of your data is backed up, especially if you are running firmware v22.70 on a Montana 7x0.

More details to come...

Sorry for the lack of detail as I am currently working closely with Garmin on this issue.

Yes, while loading Maps to the microSD card via the device Wi-Fi, it suddenly rebooted and appeared to be re-indexing all data on the device (progress bar at the bottom of the boot screen zipped left to right dozens of times).

After it finally finished booting, all user data was gone from the card, but Garmin data still remained untouched. The card has been checked for errors in an external reader and passed without issue. All Garmin maps and other data created by the Montana 7x0 that were on the device when the reboot happened are still present and untouched, but all user data, all GPX, GGX, KMZ, GPI, JPG, JPEG, ADV files are gone, along with the directories that contained them. The GPX folder, the GGZ folder, the CustomMaps folder, the Adventures folder, the JPEG folder, the POI folder are all gone, along with all contents.

Below you can see that the microSD card gained 15GB of space in a 10 minute window, while downloading Outdoor Maps+ content:
