No minus sign on trip computer GRADE field

I have a GRADE field on my trip computer page. It does not show a minus sign or any other indication I can see when the grade is negative (going down hill).

I believe it used to show the minus sign, but not sure when or whether a firmware update changed the behavior.

Is this a known issue? Is there a work-around?

Firmware is up-to-date (version 9.10).

Response from Garmin support is that no indication of a negative grade is provided in the GRADE field on the trip computer page.

They said they have added a feature request.

Can you provide any examples of other places grade values are provided with positive or negative identifiers?
