Garmin Spine Mount 2 System is Disappointing

The accessory spine mount on the back of the device is poorly designed.
The backpack/bike mount is adequate, but nothing special.
However, the carabiner lanyard and other straps are outdated and impractical for attaching to the GPS.
Disappointing.

Disappointing.
I fully agree - during my day hike today I asked my self all the time "Why Garmin you did this change?"
I see no advantage and - for me the most disappointing" - it's "98%" similar to the existing mount of the GPSMAP series. And I have already mounts for them on my backpacks and bike which I can not use. If I force the H1 into the existing holder it hold a bit no longtime solution but here the new mountings are not yet available.

I agree fully.
I suspect, however, that this new Spine Mount 2 is part of a much larger picture we are not yet aware of, and they needed a new 'universal mount' for another upcoming product line, or something along those lines.
Unfortunately, many of us are already heavily invested in the original Spine Mount accessories, and now Garmin will force us to purchase a second set of everything just to use our GPSMAP H1.
Perhaps someone soon will release a 3D printed adapter from Spine Mount 2 to Spine Mount 1.
I know of some popular third party accessory makers that could do this pretty quickly...

I use the older GPSMaps (66sr, Garmin GPSMap 67i) and the bicycle mounts are sturdy and the devices are tight on the handlebar. Too tight I might say. I bought a Tusita Mount adapter to the Garmin Quarter turn mounts for bicycles. And yes, it’s not as sturdy, but no, no GPSMap ever fell off. I’m using them now for about four years.
Enter this new stupid spine 2 mount: back to waiting for Tusita to come up with a new mount adapter, for the original mounts from Garmin do not fit my handlebar setups. And: I still use the Garmin GPSMap 67i, so having two mounts on my allready crowded handlebar is a pain.
Why does Garmin do something stupid like altering an old reliable system?
I’m thinking of returning my Garmin GPSMap H1 and buying a used Garmin GPSMap 67 or something.

I am disappointed that there are no new RAM handlebar mounts for GPSMaps 66/67 or H1.
Mounts like RAM-HOL-GA31U (for Oregon) or RAM-HOL-GA41U (for GPSMap 62/64) were way more reliable than any spine mount.
