+1,+2 (etc) suffixes on waypoints & map embedded POIs

Unread post by WallyGator »

This likely applies to both the GPSMAP H1 (that I do NOT own) as well as the eTrex Touch 2 (that I DO own). I have posted this in the H1 forum for more widespread traffic.

I've seen these suffixes (+1, +2, +3, +4, +5) at the end of the user waypoint name or the end of a map-embedded POI name (on all waypoints and map embedded POIs). These show up when panning the map and viewing the waypoint/POI using the circular pointer to get info on the waypoint/POI. These +numbers also display on most (but not all) roads trails and contour lines.

Does anyone know what these numbers signify? I have never seen these on older GPS models that I have owned, only on the eTrex Touch. The mapset being used makes no difference.

The number shows the additional number of features at the location pointed at. If you tap the card (or whatever Garmin calls that UI element), the device will show the complete list of features for that location.

Ah...very helpful, JungleJim. Thank you.

I had a feeling it was something like that. I didn't realize at first that the card was tappable. Also what threw me (once I figured that out) was that the number didn't coincide with what was being displayed in the list when the "card" was tapped.. For instance, if the number was 1 or 2, the list made sense. However, if number was 3 or above, I only saw three in the list. What I was neglecting to realize was that the list was scrollable.

Thanks again!
