eTrex Touch 2 Firmware Update 12.06 released 11AUG26:

NOTE: This release was pulled from Garmin servers and quickly replaced with firmware 12.08.

I have updated to v12.06. I'll see if this update is worth keeping. If it's not, back to v10.13 I go

1. They have corrected the swipe between the satellite constellation pages; the motion doesn't get stuck any more when swiping from left to right. Note that it's now an animated/fluid swipe motion and not an instantaneous change between pages as in v10.13. I much preferred the instantaneous change as it was more positive but it is what it is and at least it's no longer annoying when swiping.

2. Just had a lockup when accessing TopoActive maps from the unit under Map Manager & after tapping the "+Add" button. The unit froze for ~2 minutes with the "Requesting Map Update Data" message on the screen, then it recovered. Repeating the process repeats the error. My Wi-Fi connection is fine since accessing Outdoor Maps+ results in no issues as far as connectivity goes. I don't have a subscription so I'm just going by if the unit connects to the server to verify an active subscription. It could simply be that the TopoActive Maps server is down. I'll have to monitor this to see. Not a big deal for myself since I don't update maps in this way...too prone to errors with such large downloads
EDIT: I power-cycled the unit and the above issue has cleared itself

3. The Calendar app is once again very laggy requiring 2-3 seconds for any response from a screen tap. If it's left open on-screen when the unit goes to sleep, waking the unit needs those additional 2-3 seconds for the screen to even respond after swiping up to unlock the unit.

4. The issue with Map Layers (selecting them and keeping their display status after a power-cycle and keeping their assignment with an Activity) seems to be resolved.

5. This is likely a bug as far as I can tell: Additional icons were added to the Apps List pages. These were NOT there initially as I always rearranged them to my liking. It seems they appeared after a power-cycle but I can't be sure. I screenshotted them as proof and I've posted them in the spoiler below. After connecting the unit to the PC to transfer the screen shots to post them here, and it's mandatory power-cycling, these additions have vanished, just as they appeared out of nowhere.
Take this as you will...very strange.

EDIT: The additional Apps List icons have appeared yet again but with a different, seemingly random order and odd icons. What seems to be triggering this is simply switching activities (I have five activities set up). Power-cycling the unit will clear this until you switch activities again. The the strangeness returns. Additional captures (after switching activities) are in the second spoiler.

Captures 1, 2 & (partially) 3 are normal. What was added immediately follows the new Music Control app on the 3rd capture. Pages 4 & 5 are new. Note also that they all had their own blue page indicator below each page (indicating 5 pages total instead of the previous 3).

Issue #5 posted above (additional corrupted App Menu icons) has been reported directly to Garmin Support via email with the same screenshots used here.

The good news is that v12.06 has seemingly fixed the Barometer Plot bug when GPS demo mode is enabled.

Two steps forward, two steps back.

I had this issue on my H1 with firmware 11.07 as well. Probably a server related issue instead of firmware.

Exactly the same issue on my H1. Incredible how this got through QA. Oh wait Garmin doesn’t do any QA, that’s what we are for /s

Thanks for replying @JungleJim and for testing/validating that I'm not the only one. I literally found this issue within one hour of installing 12.06. I noticed that after I had rearranged my Apps List icons, all was well...until I did that "something" (switched Activities) that triggered it...there were just three Apps List pages (now with the two new Music Control & Messenger apps) and now all of a sudden, there are five pages? Very odd issue.

As mentioned, I have reported it to Garmin (no reply yet).

FYI - Garmin software engineers are aware of the 'Main Menu Additional Setup Shortcuts' issue, and I suspect a correction will be coming sooner rather than later.

After further testing over more extended time, the Barometer Plot issue has NOT been corrected.
