  1. Widgets provide information at a glance, including sensor data and notifications.
    • Notable Widgets for Garmin Outdoor Handheld devices include:
      • Battery Analyzer - Provides a graphic display of battery usage over time
      • Battery Status - Monitors battery charge and discharge cycles and displays battery usage statistics
      • Grid Locator for HAMs - Generates the Maidenhead Locator System (also known as QTH or QRA grid system)
      • ISS (International Space Station) - Displays current, past and future ISS location, orbit, passes, and astronauts
      • Magnetic Declination - This widget displays the magnetic declination for the current location and time
      • SK-42 Datum - Displays coordinates in SK-42 datum (Pulkovo-42)
      • Solar System Live - Displays the solar system as it is right now, and allows zoom in/out and explore future/past
      • SysInfo - Displays Connect IQ and firmware versions as well as current time and device run time
      • UTM-MGRS - Displays current coordinates in UTM or MGRS format
      • WGS-84 Coordinates - Displays current position in one of three configurable formats

      • AppBuilder 5 - Create your own calculated data fields based on simple math formulas
      • Battery Field - Simple battery level datafield, plain look, with FIT file logging

  4. Watch Faces are a limited resource application that is displayed on the main screen of Garmin wearable devices.
    • Not compatible with Garmin Outdoor Handheld devices.

  5. Audio Content allows the user to listen to music, podcasts or audio-books without carrying a phone.
    • Not compatible with Garmin Outdoor Handheld devices.

4. Installation

  1. Garmin Express
     
    • Launch the Garmin Express program on your computer
    • Choose the desired device from available selections
    • Select 'IQ Apps'
    • Select 'Get More Apps'
    • Garmin Express will open the Connect IQ Store in your default web browser (see below)

  2. Mobile Device
     
    • Garmin Connect App (Android and iOS)
       
      • Open the Garmin Connect App on your mobile device
      • Select your device from the device list
      • Select 'Activities & App Management'
      • Choose 'Apps', 'Widgets' or 'Data Fields'
      • Select 'Get More....'
      • Find a desired Widget, Application or Data Field
      • Select 'Install'

    • Connect IQ Store App (Android and iOS)
       
      • Open the Garmin Connect IQ Store App on your mobile device
      • Find a desired Widget, Application or Data Field
      • Select 'Install'

  3. Web Browser
     
    • Open the Garmin Connect IQ Store in your preferred web browser
    • Sign in with the same Garmin account credentials used to register the device
    • Browse available categories to find a Widget, Application or Data Field compatible with your device
    • Select 'Download'
    • Choose the desired device if prompted
    • Select 'Allow' to grant requested permissions
    • Your selection will be installed the next time the device is synced via Garmin Express or Garmin Connect

 


5. Device Management

  1. Garmin Express
     
    • Launch the Garmin Express program on your computer
    • Choose the desired device from available selections
    • Select 'IQ Apps'
    • Choose desired sorting method (All, On Your Device, Data Fields, Applications, Widgets)
    • Select to show/hide Connect IQ memory usage:



    • Tip: Never load more than 15 IQ Apps to your device as one empty slot is required to install updates
    • Select to 'Remove From Device'
    • Select to 'Send to Device'
    • Select to 'Configure Settings'
    • Select 'Rearrange Applications' to modify application display sequence on connected device
    • Select 'Rearrange Widgets' to modify Widget display sequence on connected device
    • Select 'Get More Apps' to open the Connect IQ Store

  2. Mobile Device
     
    • Garmin Connect App (Android and iOS)
       
      • Open the Garmin Connect App on your mobile device
      • Select your device from the device list
      • Select 'Activities & App Management' to view and sort Applications
        • Select individual Applications to add, remove or configure settings
      • Select 'Widgets' to view and sort Widgets
        • Select individual Widgets to add, remove or configure settings
      • Select 'Data Fields' to view available Data Fields
        • Select individual Data Fields to add, remove or configure settings
      • Select 'Manage Storage' to view Connect IQ memory usage
        • Select desired Applications, Widgets or Data Fields, then 'Uninstall' to remove from device

    • Connect IQ Store App (Android and iOS)
       
      • Open the Garmin Connect IQ Store App on you rmobile device
      • Select 'My Device' to view current device information
        • Select 'My Device Apps' to view installed Applications
          • Select individual Applications to add, remove or configure settings
        • Select 'My Data Fields' to view installed Data Fields
          • Select individual Data Fields to add, remove or configure settings
        • Select 'My Widgets' to view installed Widgets
          • Select individual Widgets to add, remove or configure settings
        • Select 'Updates' to view a list of available updates
        • Select 'Auto Update' to enable or disable automatic updates
        • Select 'Update Notifications' to enable or disable notifications when updates are available
      • Select 'IQ Store' to open the Connect IQ Store
      • Select 'Search' to search available Connect IQ Store Widgets, Applications and Data Fields

  1. Garmin Outdoor Handheld devices with Connect IQ capabilities include:
