Use Garmin LiveTrack
to Track Activities in Real Time
Let
your friends and family track your activities in real time using LiveTrack
via the
Garmin Connect App.
LiveTrack gives you peace of mind
during workouts, and lets your fans cheer you on every step of the way on
race day.
Starting a LiveTrack Session
Just pair your compatible Garmin
device with the free Garmin Connect Mobile app and enable LiveTrack for your
timed activity.
When you select AutoStart, all
future timed activities on that device will automatically start a LiveTrack
session.
Sharing Your LiveTrack Information
Invite your friends and family via
email, Facebook or Twitter.
They will receive a link to a
webpage that includes the position of your phone or connected device.
They’ll also be able to track your
activity time, distance, speed and elevation in real time.
Data from any ANT+ sensors you may
have - such as heart rate or cadence - can also be viewed on your LiveTrack
page.
How to Use Livetrack
with Garmin Connect
You can use LiveTrack to share
real-time information about your activities from your Garmin device with friends
or family. LiveTrack settings can be found from the menu section of the Garmin
Connect app. Your Garmin device must have a GPS receiver to use LiveTrack.
Please note that not all features in LiveTrack are compatible with all Garmin
devices.
How to start a LiveTrack session
for the first time:
Select Safety and Tracking (If not present skip to step 4)
Select LiveTrack
Select I Consent
Select Devices
Select the desired device to enable LiveTrack
Select Done (Android only)
If desired, touch LiveTrack Name (Android) or Session Name (iOS) to change the name of the LiveTrack session.
Add/invite recipients to view your LiveTrack session under Share Session (Android) or Share Web Link (iOS).
Select Start LiveTrack then start an activity on your Garmin device.
NOTE: Once an activity has been started it may take a few minutes for
the LiveTrack session to show your current location.
As long as the app and your Garmin device are connected and your phone has a
cellular connection, your activity will be shared in real-time with those
invited.
For future LiveTrack Sessions:
After setting up LiveTrack for the first time, future LiveTrack sessions can
be started by following the steps below.
Previously added recipients and the
name of the LiveTrack session will carry over from any previously configured
session.
Show Course:
For devices that display the Show Course option, enabling this will
allow your LiveTrack recipients to see a magenta outline of the course
you are follwoing.
Auto Start: For devices that display the Auto Start option, enabling this will
allow you to automatically start a LiveTrack session without having to
follow the steps below. Once you start your activity the LiveTrack session
will begin.
Select strong>Safety and Tracking (If not present skip to step 4)
Select LiveTrack
Select Start LiveTrack for
desired device
Select Session Details to edit
Session Name and/or Extend Session Visibility
Select Share to send a
LiveTrack Session invite to desired recipients

LiveTrack feature breakdown
Devices
Choose the device you want to enable LiveTrack for.
LiveTrack Name/Session Name
By default the LiveTrack Name/Session Name will be in the following format: Live Activity mm/dd/yyyy. You can select LiveTrack Name/Session Name to
change the name if desired.
Show Course
When enabled,
your LiveTrack recipients will see a magenta outline of the course you
are follwoing.
Auto Start
When enabled, LiveTrack will start automatically each time an activity is started on the
selected device.
Extend LiveTrack
When enabled, recipients will be able to view your LiveTrack events for 24 hours after stopping LiveTrack.
Share Session/Share Web Link
SMS: Select desired recipients to send a LiveTrack notification
Email: Input the email address of recipients that you want to receive LiveTrack notifications
Twitter: Automatically posts a LiveTrack tweet on your Timeline

Share To Garmin Devices
GroupTrack allows all of your connections to view your location on their
compatible devices.
The user's position will be updated on compatible GroupTrack devices
every 15-30 seconds (as long as Bluetooth + Cellular connections are
present).
GroupTrack requires that the certain conditions are met to view a
participant on a compatible device:
You must be connected with participant via Garmin Connect Connections
The compatible device must be paired and connected to a phone through
the Garmin Connect App
Phone needs to have a cell service signal
You must have initiated the LiveTrack feature within Garmin Connect App
You must have initiated GroupTrack feature within Garmin Connect App
Garmin Connect Connection needs to be added to the 'Visible to' field of GroupTrack in
the Garmin Connect App
Timed activity must be started in order for position to be shared
