Maximizing Battery Life
- Most inReach devices share several common
settings that can have a substantial affect on battery run time.
- Configuring device settings for each unique
activity type can help optimize and extend battery life.
- Backlight Brightness - Use the lowest setting
possible (no backlight necessary when viewed in direct sunlight).
- Backlight Timeout - Find the shortest time
period that works best for you.
- Send Interval (Tracking) - Use longer intervals
between sent tracking points.
- Log Interval (Recording Controls) - Reduce the
frequency at which the device tracklog is updated.
- Wi-Fi Connection - Disable Wi-Fi radio when not
in use.
- Bluetooth Connection - Disable Bluetooth radio
when permitted.
- ANT+ Sensors - Minimize external sensor usage
when possible.
- Extended Tracking (Expedition Mode) - Disables
many unnecessary features to maximize battery life.
- Always carry the device in a position that
provides the best unobstructed view of the sky above.
- Operation in colder environments, especially below
freezing, will always reduce battery performance.
