Create Icon
- Select or create an image for your inReach MINI 2 custom icon
- Size the image to 256x256 pixels and save in PNG format
- Visit this link to convert the PNG file to ICO format
- Save the converted ICO file to a safe location on your PC
- Or use our pre-made inReach MINI 2 icon
Install Icon
- Connect your inReach MINI 2 and enter Mass Storage Mode
- Copy your new custom inReach MINI 2 icon to the [MINI 2]\Garmin\ directory.
Enable Icon
- Connect your inReach MINI 2 and enter Mass Storage Mode
- Navigate to the root directory of your inReach MINI 2
- Open autorun.inf with Notepad (or Notepad++)
The default autorun.inf file will look similar to this:
[autorun] icon=Garmin\Garmintm.ico action=Garmin inReach Mini 2 label=Garmin inReach Mini 2
Modify the second line to reflect the name and location of the custom icon you copied to your inReach MINI 2. For example, if we placed an icon named inReach MINI 2.ico in the [MINI 2]\Garmin\ directory, we would make the following modification:
[autorun] icon=Garmin\inReach MINI 2.ico action=Garmin inReach Mini 2 ini 2label=Garmin inReach Mini 2
Save the edited autorun.inf file.
Change Device Name
Want to change the name of your device in Windows Explorer? If we wanted our inReach MINI 2 to appear as "MINI 2" in windows explorer, we would make the following edit:
[autorun] icon=Garmin\inReach MINI 2.ico action=Garmin inReach Mini 2 label=MINI 2
Save the edited autorun.inf file.
