1. ANT+

Further enhancing device functionality, ANT+ is the wireless technology that enables all compatible Garmin devices to communicate with each other and multiple external accessories, allowing users to share information in the field while additional information is displayed and recorded for future review.

  1. Tip: Disable any ANT+ sensors not currently in use to reduce power consumption and extend battery run time.

2. Bluetooth

Share larger files (such as photos, geocaches, adventures, routes or Custom Maps) with other Bluetooth enabled Garmin devices up to 50 times faster than previously possible using ANT+. Receive smart notifications (emails, texts, alerts), share LiveTrack location data and other information with a paired smartphone or tablet running a compatible Garmin mobile app.

  1. Tip: Disable Bluetooth radio when possible to reduce power consumption and extend battery run time.

3. Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi capability makes it easier than ever to enjoy available connected features without making an impact on your mobile device data plan.

  1. An active Wi-Fi connection allows your Garmin navigator to:

    • Receive device software updates.
    • View current weather conditions and forecast information.
    • Access live geocache data.
    • Update EPO/CPE files to quickly locate available satellites.
    • Download Outdoor Maps + content and/or subscription free BirdsEye satellite imagery.
    • Install and update desired TopoActive maps.

  2. Wi-Fi network requirements:

    • SSID must be visible (hidden networks are not supported).
    • Operating frequency must be 2.4 GHz (5 GHz not supported).
    • Captive Portals (networks with a customized login page or 'agree screen') are not supported.
    • Supported security protocols are WEP, WPA and WPA2.
    • Minimum password length is 8 characters.

  3. Tip: A maximum of seven Wi-Fi networks can be added to each device.
  4. Tip: Some device features may require Wi-Fi setup to be completed via Garmin Express or a mobile app.
  5. Tip: Disable Wi-Fi when not in use to reduce power consumption and extend battery run time.
