Replacement Battery for the GPSMAP 67

Some potential buyers have reportedly avoided purchase of the GPSMAP 67 ( or the 66SR) because of concerns that the unit will be inoperable if the battery can no longer be re-charged. Does anyone know how many re-charges are possible for the 67? It appears to me that NewPower 99 might sell a replacement battery kit for the InReach Explorer which might work for the GPSMAP 67.

I've got a Foretrex 201 and a Quest, using a built in li-ion battery. These devices are 19 years old and are still working.
It's probably way too early to worry about replacement batteries for a brand new device...

Some buyers prefer the option of being able to replace the power supply with fresh AA Lithium ion batteries, for them, the 65S is a good choice for multi-GNSS and multi-band support.

I don't understand peoples worry with the built in battery thing and not being able to change it. The same people will have mobile phones that have batteries built in but it doesn't stop them buying them.

The battery lasts ages on the 67 I've been on a two week holiday in Scotland, been up Ben Nevis, the 67 has been used everyday for about 8+hours in that two weeks and I've still got 23% battery left that's with everything turned on, wifi, bluetooth sync, screen always on at 50%. The Battery time on the 65s is garbage in comparison at around 8-10 hours an Energizer Max Plus Alkaline batteries that aren't cheap and are the best underneath lithium.

Just a few thoughts on recent posts. I own a GPSMAP 67 and am very happy with its battery life. That said, I do not know how many times that the internal battery can be re-charged, probably quite a few times. However, I think it is good that it is likely that the 67's internal battery be replaced using a Newpower 99 kit.

Although I did not remove my 67's internal battery to test this, I was able to connect my 67 to a usb C portable power supply bank and the 67 appeared to operate normally while charging. I agree with Gadwin that some backcountry users have a very legitimate reason for purchasing a GPS receiver with replaceable AA Lithium ion batteries and that is why there continues to be a viable market for the GPSMAP 65S.

On average it is said that a Li-ion battery can be recharged more than 500 to 600 times, but since it is easily changeable and these batteires can be found at Amazon, there is no problem, I have already changed the battery of my Garmin Drive 51.

Carry a powerbank, with how long the battery lasts on the 67 you're not going to be hiking every minute of the 100 odd hours it lasts so you can leave it hooked up to a powerbank while resting/sleeping to top up when needed. And yes the 67 will still work while plugged in.
