Odometer

Hi 67 owners.
I know that

A running tally of the distance traveled for all trips. This total does not clear when resetting the trip data.

However, is it known where on the GPS this information is being recorded, is there a way to delete it.
I want to reset it to detect a few diurnal transitions. I'm currently accumulating distance which is of no use to me.

A Master Reset may clear this value, but someone would have to test that and report their results.

At Garmin navigations and Dakota 10 Master Reset it certainly doesn't reset Odometer. There's no reason for 67 to be any different, and you'll lose all your settings that way.
I'm trying to figure out which GPS file it's saving to, but... no luck so far.

Yes, I've often wondered this. It's hugely useless though as it doesn't just count saved tracks it counts everything the device counts, so all GPS drifting etc when you first turn the unit on etc is counted.

I just got a brand new 65s from Garmin, first turned it on before it connected to a sat signal and the map was still in Taiwan the last place it had a GPS signal, then when it got signal at my house in the England the "odometer" jumped up to just over 7000miles!

A master reset does reset the odometer on a Dakota 10, I'm certain of that. I cannot remember a Garmin device that didn't reset the odometer during a master reset (and I did reset a lot of them).
The numbers aren't kept in a file that you can access from your computer, the device has an unaccessible memory where things like that are stored (and is erased during a master reset).

You might be confusing Trip Odometer with Odometer ? I have not seen a Garmin that resets the odometer during a master reset.

A real master reset will set the odometer to 0. Did you use the reset option in the setup menu? That's not a master reset.
To perform the master reset of a Dakota:

• Power the device off
• Press and hold your finger on the upper left side of the display
• Power the device on while still maintaining pressure on the display
• Release on the display when the Do you really want to erase all user data? message appears
• Touch Yes

Master Reset Cleared that value, but it wasn't worth the tweaking toy after that.
There has to be an easier way through, Garmin should think about it. I'm sure it's not functional for anyone this way.

To make it easier to restore your settings after a Master reset, first copy and save the Profiles to your computer.

The Profiles is also handy when setting up multiple units with the same settings - say for a customer who wants 20 units all the same. The customer sets up 1 unit to suit their staff usage and then I copy the Profiles and paste them to the other units. I found that the current Profile in use was not overwritten so I had to select another profile and enable that in order to overwrite the previously selected Profile.

The Profile feature also allow for a new Profile so the customer can have one named as their business etc to make it easy to identify in the list.
