Could you also share the FIT file that the Montana created from this GPX route? It should provide some clues about how the unit translates the waypoints in the GPX file to course points in the FIT file.

This is exactly what I want to find out.
You could also do the conversion on your 67 and inspect that FIT file. I suspect they all use the same code.

Re: Course Waypoints with Blue Pin icon are not displayed
Those custom icons aren't part of the route in your GPX file, so you changed them on the device after it was converted to a course, correct?
Older devices use the blue pin icon for via points in routes, cluttering the screen with those pins. On my website I made a page with a solution for that: creating a custom bitmap with a small square (similar to the default points on your screenshot) replacing the default blue pin (hence my previous question).
Maybe Garmin got the same idea to replace every blue pin with small squares...

Yes, this is correct. Edited in Course after converting.javawa wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 10:56 pmThose custom icons aren't part of the route in your GPX file, so you changed them on the device after it was converted to a course, correct?
Since all Waypoints are marked "with Alarm", I don't think, that this is correct?javawa wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 10:56 pm Older devices use the blue pin icon for via points in routes, cluttering the screen with those pins. As "without Alarm", I would tend to agree, that this makes sense.

AFAIK outdoor devices do not differentiate between via points with or without alert, only automotive devices will do that.
Four points in your route will alert on arrival (MyVIAPoint1 to 4), but as you can see on your screenshot they all look the same (apart from the ones you changed afterwards).

Well, than what's the purpose of this option in Courses? You can set there the option.javawa wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 11:32 pm AFAIK outdoor devices do not differentiate between via points with or without alert, only automotive devices will do that.
As for normal routes, you are right.

Re: Course Waypoints with Blue Pin icon are not displayed
I knew this all sounded very familiar.
ConiKost, your question about why the Blue Pin symbols do not appear has already been answered in response to one of your previous posts about the same issue.
The quick answer, directly from Garmin, was: "This is an intentional design change to maintain consistent behavior with similar products."
Their position was easy to justify after receiving complaints from hundreds of users over the span of more than a decade requesting the 'Blue Pins' or 'Blue Flags' not be displayed on the map at every point along a route because they only served to clutter the display while obstructing other map details.
Research 'Blue Pin Disease' for yourself if you wish.

Re: Course Waypoints with Blue Pin icon are not displayed
I don't think, that this the same case here. Most (or all?) posts are about the route planer. I accept the fact, that most people don't want a blue pin here. Since route planer does not offer any option to set icons, unless you have waypoints saved as favorites and set some icon.
But the course planer does offer an option to choose from a range of icons for single waypoints. Doesn't make sense to me, if I choose in the range of icons some blue pin, that it stays invisible? Maybe is should be removed from choice selection in this case?

It appears we have determined that, of the 174 standard waypoint symbols and 16 geocache symbols pre-loaded on Garmin Outdoor devices, with as many as 56 additional user created custom waypoint symbols, providing a grand total of 246 possible waypoint symbols, only the 'Blue Pin' symbol will not be displayed on the map page when applied to a course point, while the remaining 245 waypoint symbols will display on the map screen.
