Garmin Oregon 450t - “System Software Missing"

My Garmin Oregon 450t has either a wrongly firmware version installed or even missing or broken firmware.

Hitting the power button immediately show “SYSTEM SOFTWARE MISSING” and the Garmin logo below.

Forced USB Mode via USB cable and push/hold power button for several seconds does not work.

Forced Firmware Update/Downgrade via USB with Firmware Utility “Updater.exe GUPDATE.rgn” and push/hold power button for 30 or more seconds does not work.

How would have Garmin installed initially a firmware on a blank device?

Does anyone knows a solution? Many thanks!

I know this is an old thread, but for any one else for future reference.

I had similar/ same issue on my 300.

Luckily I had already created a backup of it using JaVaWa Device manager. All the files needed seemed to be on the backup, so after copying them back to the device via USB, the Software updater then saw the device and told me "Firmware version 0.00" new firmware 4.20 is available, and doing that kicked it back in to life

It's not the same issue... Your 300 was still accessible via USB, the 450 of TS wasn't.
Also note that the firmware of the device is never accessible when it's connected to a computer, so JaVaWa Device Manager doesn't have a copy of it.
The other files in the backup are useful for a lot of things, but not essential to the functioning of the firmware.

Ah ok
I could not read the on screen message as it was way to quick. Mine just constantly rebooted to a black screen and the computer software reported Ver0.00 firmware. But yes it as accessible from USB
