I've checked now: in Base Camp > Properties > slider down - more transparency.

Do you mean " Get info? The Mac version of Base Camp has no properties for anything ..and i do already have the slider down to Zero

Not that it is major issue...it is perfectly workable now

Properties should be.
File properties - click on the kmz file in the list.

You can draw a Lidar map as a vector map, it's a bit of a painstaking task. I made a sample. The object color can be changed to brown - like rocks ;) .

Maybe the value 0 Draw Order is not appropriate, I've heard about maps disappearing in KMZ files -
the cause was setting the maximum value, set it in the range of 20 to 40.

The tutorial at the previously suggested link includes this 'Draw Order' information.

A bit pricey too for my needs !
Do the JPEG files you can access include the information you desire? If yes, another option is to convert them into Garmin Custom Maps (KMZ).
If you do have the 'Draw Order' set to 'Zero', any other maps in the same location will appear over the KMZ map.

I did just delete a huge message, with lots of quotes and screen shots..but deleted it. ! was getting too bogged down.

But it is all good

Yes, That is what I want, for my other maps to appear over the top. It works all except for the KMZ map border rectangle showing through and changing the colour.
See this screen grab.

All the base and map(s) do appear above my own drawn map, be it the City Navigator in BaseCamp or the OpenSource Maps . Both works find on the device and BaseCamp...except just the colouration of the white box changing the colour of the basemap..but that is nitpicking..it works just fine...

Yes, I did find that, thanks for that link. that is what gave me the idea to create my own map in Photoshop from the LiDAR and Satellite overlay.
1 Megapixel, or less 1024 pixels wide and less than 3mb 156 pixel/inch.

I was trying to get around this
Custom Maps Tutorial wrote: A Custom Map with a Draw Order < 50 will draw on top of the land, water, and areas on other maps, but roads, topo lines, and depth contours will draw on top of the Custom Map.

I was trying to get my Custom jpeg KMZ map UNDER the land, water, and areas on other maps but that is only for 'looks' and it does not affect the usability at all.

...Edit...ah ..lightbulb moment...if my map appeared under the yellow of the land area..of the basemap, it would likely also appear UNDER the blue of the sea area..so be invisible...

So all is good..

Thank you gents..

Maybe you will consider a solution consisting in inverting the colors on your map, the underwater rocks will be green (it is possible to change them to a different color) and the trails will become white. The map image will be more realistic, underwater rocks will be presented as "islands", white will present "roads" between the rocks.

I see your idea, but I prefer the gulleys as green safe areas. And red being unsafe or oyster farm areas.

The tide here goes out over two miles at low tide. The picture below is now, with the tide height at 4 meter. It comes up to about 11 meter and on really big tides with high pressure weather system it can go negative by ½ meter or so.

I can walk the areas in green on the next big low tide and confirm my areas.

In the picture you may see a tower. On low tide you can walk out beyond that tower,

There is nothing to stop you from changing the colors later - green or blue water,
brown rocks, changing the color in Photoshop is not complicated. Places marked in red can be left unchanged.

OK. I understand, this is your map, you will use it.

So long as you have the data you need displayed on your GPSr in a useful way, I'm calling it a win! Further refinement is up to you.

The image shows a mix of transparent vector map + Birdseye map, in my opinion the white color of the rocks is too aggressive, but it's a matter of taste :) .

I have the feeling that there is nothing in the area marked in white. As if there was an emptiness.

On the Little Oregon 300 with the small screen and viewing in the sunlight whilst kayaking with GPS balanced on your knee aggressive display is what I need. I went out this morning and it seems to work well with my colours green and white and red.
