Perhaps the Activity was uploaded via Bluetooth?

Indeed not fixed in 8.90. I have given up hope on Garmin fixing this issue. I have reported it since I purchased the GPSMAP 67 when it came out. Repeatedly sent reminders to support asking for status, but it hasn't been fixed.
The behaviour is very obvious, because not only will the unit upload an activity to Connect (even with Bluetooth turned off), you can also download Outdoor Maps+ maps and satellite imagery with WiFi turned off. Not all the time so it appears the device periodically scans for Wi-Fi networks and connects when it finds a known one.

It's really going to knock into the battery life, I've removed the access point now so it can't start sending data hopefully. Re: my phone I tend to keep bt and WiFi off to extend battery life and reduce the permissions.
The garmin app still had access to "nearby devices" at the time.

Well it's not like the WiFi is on all the time, even though it has been disabled in setup. It's just that the unit seems to periodically try to connect and then disconnect again. Not sure at what moments exactly, I noticed it always does so after being turned on (again with WiFi disabled in the settings). But I've seen it happen at other moments as well.Offpiste wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 12:13 am It's really going to knock into the battery life, I've removed the access point now so it can't start sending data hopefully. So it will probably have some influence on battery life but I doubt "it's really going to knock into the battery life".

It seems its constantly scanning for WiFi, within 30 seconds of an access point being activated I'm receiving logs of my activities on my phone.I can spoof an activity so it has something to upload, leave it on the table for an hour then power up the access point and within 30 seconds my fake activities are uploaded.JungleJim wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 11:36 amWell it's not like the WiFi is on all the time, even though it has been disabled in setup. I've got a friend coming round with technology that will see packets in real time every time from the device so soon we will know how many times an hour it polls/scans for its associated SSIDs
It's definitely going to be effecting battery life if its on constantly.

Re: Unit connects to Wi-Fi when Wi-Fi is disabled [Bug 7]
I can confirm this as I turned it off after skiing. Because of the new firmware I was able to catch it red handed as it asked if the FW should be installed. I never used WiFi to somehow download this FW, it seems that it actually connects to known networks most likely to collect the activity data and "conveniently" upload it to Garmin connect as long as you don't disable it.
I have now deleted all WiFi except the hotspot on my iPhone, which only works when I turn it on.
