GPSMAP H1/H1i Plus firmware 4.08

Garmin Express just offered me firmware version 4.08 for the H1/H1i Plus. Haven't installed it yet, but here is the changelog:

• Added Course Creator app
• Added Expedition Mode
• Added Hunt and Fish app
• Added Barometer app
• Added Sun & Moon app
• Added Swissgrid LV95 coordinate format
• Added emoji reaction keyboard
• Added prompt to continue or stop navigation when arriving at destination
• Added support for Outdoor Maps+ Slope Aspect layer
• Added waypoint averaging functionality
• Improved keyboard layouts for various languages
• Improved charging page behavior
• Improved Outdoor Maps+ download speeds
• Improved Voice Command for setting all volume levels
• Fixed time to destination when not moving
• Fixed waypoint count not updating in the saved app
• Fixed possible shutdown when entering a Wi-Fi network password
• Fixes changing/saving track colors
• Fixed an issue with creating the RINEX folder
• Fixed Spot Sounding and Light Sectors showing up without marine charts
• Fixed issue with SOS app not showing the correct prompt
• Fixed issues with Hebrew keyboard
• Fixed possible shutdown with TOPO GB V3 Pro Map
• Removed invalid items from the add home grid page flow

(Garmin releases updates in stages, so this one may not be available to everyone at the same time)

One thing I noticed was that after the update to 4.08 my home screens were changed. The additional default home screens I added (ABC, Navigation) were gone. A new home screen with inReach functionality was added, even though I have the H1 which doesn't have inReach. So I had to restore the default home screens and redo my customisations.

So I was " upgraded to 4.08" before I knew It. No warning

I had Hunt and Fish, Sun and moon before
Cannot find the Barometer app
It is still not possible to get Course or track colours to change. The facility is there but the change will not be actioned
Will post more info on the SD card issue on that post

Strange, I have 4.08 and changing color of courses works now.

Maybe the update wasn’t installed correctly? Can you post a screenshot of the Settings > System > About page?

will do
it did act strangely on boot up while it was running the update, it might not have done it properly
Hope I can reinstall it or shall I do that first?
( if so what is the recommended method)
Please let know best course
failing that , I Will try and get the screenshots

I just put the H1 though Garmin express
It says the Software is 3.04 and is up to date!

Ok that looks like the update did not install correctly, because the host software version does not match the software version displayed at the top of the screen.

Garmin support should be able to provide you with a way to force the re-install of the update.

Or you can…

… download the 4.08 update GSP file from GPSrChive > GPSMAP H1 > Firmware, copy the GUPDATE.GSP file to the Garmin folder on internal storage, and copy an empty file called FORCE.TMP to the same folder. On power up of the device it will ask to install the update.

That’s the procedure Garmin gave me when I had the same issue on my GPSMAP 67 (except of course the part to download the file from GPSrChive )
