Returning my eTrex Touch 2

Post by WallyGator »

I will be taking the short 1/2 mi. walk tomorrow (I could drive but it's only 1/2 mi.) to the nearby UPS Store to return the eTrex Touch 2 to Amazon. There are many things I really like about the unit and it's shame that it started off so badly. Yes, I'll admit it's improving but will it ever get to where it should be? I don't know and don't feel like playing the waiting game being stuck with it and being Garmin's beta tester...I've done way too much beta testing in my lifetime.

While I have the chance, I am taking advantage of Amazon's return policy as I do not wish to get stuck with the unit. This is an almost $500 ($485 including tax) GPS unit that feels worth only half that price. This was to be my last upgrade from my eTrex 32x and I was very much looking forward to something great...but it has been such a disappointment.

I will continue monitoring these and other forums and the upcoming firmware updates to judge if it might be worth repurchasing at some point in the future. As it is now, it's simply not worth it in my opinion. I'll still be around and I'll still be paying attention.

For those users (including the H1/H1i Plus guys) that are in it for the long haul, happy trails to you. :D

Fortunately, you will always be able to repurchase it if you change your mind.
I was interested in eTrex Touch 2 too, bot for now I am sticking with my Oregon 700 which still works great with 95% bugs fixed.

Yes, even today, nearly ten years after introduction, the Oregon 7x0 is still an excellent handheld touchscreen GPSr, perhaps one of Garmin's best products of all time.

With all of its disadvantages, Garmin is exceptional company. You can use outdated devices, like new ones.
Try to use iPhone from 2016
