Jump on it while the price is that low (the lowest I've ever seen it).

Correct me if I am wrong, but they are probably region limited.
Buying it outside US means that you will have no free TopoActive maps.

My eTrex Touch 2 allows me to load any TopoActive Map I desire from within the Map Manager, from all over the world.
TopoActive Map Selection
170.bmp
188.bmp
193.bmp
197.bmp
If you use the link in the first post or purchase from the GPSrChive Store, it helps support the website, and costs you nothing extra.

Same experience as GPSrChive describes. The units are definitely NOT "region limited"; the maps are NOT locked to the region that the unit was purchased for/in.

Note that not only are the maps downloadable from the unit itself, you also have the same map options (downloading a different area/map region to the unit) available when running Garmin Express on the PC or Mac.

Personally, I wouldn't download maps directly from/to the unit using Wi-Fi unless they are small in size (below 1GB). In my personal experience, the Wi-Fi connection seems to drop randomly and be sporadic and care must be taken so that the unit doesn't go to sleep while downloading. I feel much better about large map downloads if they are downloaded by Garmin Express to the PC/Mac, then transferred over to the GPS unit...although one must also realize that Garmin's USB-C interface is a very slow 480 Mbps. Sadly once again, likely a Garmin-imposed speed limit. Even though the cable/plug is indeed USB-C, the speed is that of USB 2.0.

Note that the sale has ended as of today, Feb 1, 2026. I believe it ran for about 5-6 days.

The price is back up to ~$444.00
