GPSMAP H1/H1i Plus Firmware 12.08

Garmin has released GPSMAP H1/H1i Plus firmware v12.08 according to the sticky at the official Garmin H1 forum.

The changelog posted there is the same that was posted for v12.06. It's my belief that v12.08 is a hotfix for v12.06's Apps List overflow bug and likely doesn't add or change anything else.

I found the turn alert tone setting in a very inconvenient place.

Warning: Last Turn

It's located on the far right under Settings when you press the Find button.

Turn alert tones and vibration.

Surely this should be found somewhere else in the settings.

Are these settings actually supported on the H1? Or is it just a bug where settings that do not apply to the H1 but to the eTrex Touch show up in a place where they shouldn't?

The manual of the eTrex Touch mentions settings for Turn Warnings, the H1 manual only mentions Navigation Prompts. Now I know the manual is not always accurate, but given the fact that the H1 has a speaker and the eTrex Touch doesn't (it only has a beeper), it kind of makes sense that these settings are not available on the H1.

I set the device to simulation mode.

So, satellites are off.

I selected two different tones in the sound settings.

There are very few different tones available.

The activity is cycling.

I selected a destination and started navigation.

The cycling speed is 70 km/h through town.

Unbelievable!

And that's going backwards. The position arrow is pointing in the wrong direction.

Two different tones sound before turns.

One tone sounds about 250 meters before the turn.

The other tone sounds about 70 meters before the turn.

But the sound settings are located in the same place as the other sound settings.

The tones should be set where the other sounds are configured.

Perhaps the sound settings for turn warnings really don't belong on this device.
After all, the sounds cannot be turned off.
