Oregon 300 Hide GeoCaches

Unread post by NeilP »

Maybe I just can't see it..but I am trying to find a map or other setting to hide geocache icons from certain profiles on my Oregon.

I do not necessarily want it cluttering up the map with loads of cache icons when I am cycling or out in the boat or what ever in another profile.

I have gone through this page, but cannot see anything
Spoiler
Edit: After finding the Geocache link on that page and the "Feature Requests" paragraph it seems it is not possible. I did try putting the GPX files on an SD card..but it seems not to be able to see them.

Did any one ever come up with a fix for this ?

It has been sooooo long since I powered an Oregon x00/x50 up, I can't remember if they had geocache filters or not. I may have to drag one out of storage just to find out...

Ha ! it is a new toy to me !

I wish this forum allowed editing of posts ! The typos in my initial post are just horrendous...I normally do go back and fix a mess like that !

The Oregon x00 and x50 models do have a filter option for geocaches.
Setup > Geocaches > Press To Begin Filter Setup

I don't know if that affects the display of the caches on the map.

Edit: it is just a search filter, not a display filter...

Yes it is only for searching ..they always display :(

Looks like it is something that won't happen !

As an aside...I just worked out why the word "Chive" as in a type of onion is in the group name ...Archive ! Only just twigged what it means. had been puzzling over that since joining!

I thought that was explained quite clearly on the home page?

Ah I see there is another top level page that is not accessible via a link from the Discussion page.

So far I had only found various pages on here via Google.

If you are just at the discussion Index page..no way to the Home page you mention...unless you go to the address bar and back space the http address to the root.

I had not seen the root page before. Thanks for letting me know.

Maybe add a Full Home page link to all the pages?

I'm always surprised people manage to find the forums but not the 'meat and potatoes' main page!

Thats Google search for you .. and with no direct Easy "HOME " link on the forum page

Maybe the Quick Links or the Top menu bar needs a simple Home Link.
