Hi all!
I currently use GaiaGPS on my phone to keep a very large number of waypoints for foraging (plants, fungi, etc), and I use it to navigate to these points manually - I look at the map on the phone and just walk towards the waypoint. I can zoom in and out on the phone in order to get a better idea of where to go as I get closer to the waypoint.
I've been wanting more accuracy than my phone can provide, and it seems like the GPSMAP devices would be good for that.
Can anybody tell me, can I use the GPSMAP device in this manner? That is, upload a bunch of waypoints via GPX files, see ALL the waypoints on the map at once, zoom in and out as I get closer/further from the way points, etc?
Or can I only go to the waypoint list, tell the device to "navigate" there and then follow the navigation line?
Also, I'm able - in GaiaGPS - to keep waypoints in category folders, and enable/disable them, depending on what waypoints I want to see on the map. Is there any way to do this kind of thing on GPSMAP devices?
Can I use GPSMAP like GaiaGPS?

Also yes, so long as they are all loaded via Explore app, which allows you to show and hide waypoint collections on the device via the Collections Manager page.tbessie wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 8:31 am Also, I'm able - in GaiaGPS - to keep waypoints in category folders, and enable/disable them, depending on what waypoints I want to see on the map. You can do all this on the GPSMAP 67 or on the phone using the Explore app, which can be configured to use the GPS position data from the GPSMAP 67 exclusively.
If you haven't already, check out GPSrChive > GPSMAP 67 for additional details.

Thanks much! I hope the Explore app isn't like the Connect app, which requires a signal (WiFi or mobile) in order to do much.
I'll check out that link, thanks again!

You can use Explore app without internet connection to sync data between the app and the GPSMAP. You need internet to download maps in the Explore app and to sync between Explore app and the Explore web site. You can download offline maps in the app so you can still see the maps (in the app) even if you do not have an internet connection.tbessie wrote: Wed Dec 04, 2024 6:31 pm Thanks much!
