There is a Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 on my device. This does not appear on the Basecamp when I view the maps on the device and whether I enable or disable it on the device, it does not seem to make a difference. The other Topoactive EU maps (East, Central and West) have all been updated to 2024.20 and can be seen on the Basecamp.
Can I delete the Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10? I can't do it on the device and can't see a name associated with it in the Windows Explorer.

Re: DEM map on 65s
This is most likely the most current version of the EU DEM map, which is not updated as frequently as other maps.
Why do you want to delete it?
So common for device operation to go 'wonky' after deleting files you don't think you need.

The importance of the Garmin DEM Map Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 map is not immediately noticeable.pokyyy wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 11:41 am This does not appear on the Basecamp when I view the maps on the device and whether I enable or disable it on the device, it does not seem to make a difference.
If you delete the Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 map and there is no other map containing DEM data on the device,
you will lose the elevation profile for routes even for those for which it was previously displayed.
You will lose the elevation information above sea level after indicating a point on the map.
You will not be able to turn on the Shaded Relief map.
In my Base Camp, the Garmin DEM Map Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 map is displayed after selecting this map from the device's map list.

Re: DEM map on 65s
I didn't notice a difference and since it has not updated I thought it was a bug, my limited knowledge...
Thanks for the advice, I will enable it and forget about it.

The DEM map does not have to be enabled, even disabled it works for all detailed maps that are on the device,
only if we want to display Shaded Relief the DEM map must be enabled.

Re: DEM map on 65s
That is very useful to know. I usually use the BirdsEye Select Plus for the regions I visit in the UK but I will be wondering to the other parts of Europe later this year so the Topoactive Europe will come handy.
For some reason Europe DEM 2023.10 still does not appear on the Basecamp. The device works fine and the updated Europe (East, Central and West) 2024.20 and Worldwide DEM show on the Basecamp. I don't want to mess about with it in case I cause more problem. It has already taken up 10 hours plus of my time. At least it seems stable for now.

Don't attach much importance to the fact that the Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 map is not displayed for you, the map looks similar to the Global Map, it is a bit more detailed.pokyyy wrote: Sun Apr 20, 2025 11:42 am For some reason Europe DEM 2023.10 still does not appear on the Basecamp.
For me, it is of little use in Base Camp.
If the user does not use any other maps in Base Camp than Topo Active, after marking the path (Topo Active does not have altitude data) , he can switch to the Garmin DEM Map EU 2023.10 map and add elevation data to the created path to obtain an elevation profile in Base Camp, this can also be done on the Global Map or another map with DEM data.
