I've just upgraded from an Oregon 650 to an Oregon 700 and trying to come to terms with the different firmware.
I use the 700 only in Hike mode.
On the 650 I could go into the Waypoint Manager, select a waypoint which would then display on the map, then I could tap GO and a straight line would be displayed from my current position to the waypoint; very useful. However, on the 700, when I tap GO the unit tries to navigate me from my current position to the waypoint, along the closest roads!
How can I configure my 700 to not navigate but just indicate the direction to the waypoint?

Re: Go to waypoint without navigating
It sounds like maybe you just need to change the default routing method to direct, and make sure the 'Lock on Road' is disabled.

Thank you. Changing the routing method to 'Direct' was the solution. 'Lock on Road' was already disabled.
