1. Navigation Settings
  1. Routing Activity
     
    1. Routing Activities other than 'Direct' require routable maps installed on the GPSr
    2. The device will calculate a route optimized for the selected activity
    3. Tip: Enabling more than one routable map may result in routing errors and/or adverse performance
    4. Available routing options will vary by activity
      • Direct Routing (Line of sight navigation - Does not follow roads or tracks)
      • Automobile Driving
      • Motorcycle Driving
      • Cycling
      • Tour Cycling
      • Mountain Biking
      • Pedestrian Walking
      • Hiking

    1. Auto - Moves you to the next point in the order that it appears on the map

2. Navigating to a waypoint
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired waypoint, or
  2. Open 'Waypoint Manager' page and select desired Waypoint, or
  3. Open 'Map' page and select desired Waypoint




3. Navigating to a POI
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired POI, or
  2. Open 'Map' page and select desired POI




4. Navigating to a geocache
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired Geocache, or
  2. Open 'Geocaching' page and select desired Geocache, or
  3. Open 'Map' page and select desired Geocache




5. Navigating to coordinates
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select Coordinates
  2. Enter desired coordinates and select 'Go'




6. Navigating an activity
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select 'Recording' or 'Recorded Activities' and choose desired Activity
  2. Open 'Activity History' or 'Recorded Activities' page and select desired Activity
  3. Open Activity Map and select 'Go'.




7. Navigating a course
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired Course, or
  2. Open 'Course Planner' page and select desired Course
  3. Open Course Map and select 'Go'.




8. Navigating a route
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired Route, or
  2. Open 'Route Planner' page and select desired Route




9. Navigating a track
  1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page and select desired Track, or
  2. Open 'Track Manager' or 'Saved Tracks' page and select desired Track

10. Projecting a waypoint
  1. From another Waypoint (bearing is known value)
     
    1. Open Waypoint Manager page
    2. Select desired waypoint
    3. Open waypoint menu
    4. Select 'Project Waypoint'
    5. Enter desired bearing value
    6. Choose desired projection distance units
    7. Enter desired distance value
    8. Save 'Projected Waypoint'


  2. Using Sight 'N Go (bearing is unknown value)
     
    1. Open Sight 'N Go page
    2. Lock desired direction value
    3. Select 'Project Waypoint'
    4. Choose desired projection distance units
    5. Enter desired distance value
    6. Save 'Projected Waypoint'




11. Projecting a course

  1. Custom POIs
     
    1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page
    2. Select 'Extras' or 'Custom POIs'
    3. Choose desired POI
    4. Select 'Go'


  2. Round-Trip Routing
     
    1. Press (Find) or open 'Where To?' page
    2. Select 'Round-Trip Routing'
    3. Configure Distance, Start Location, and Activity as desired
    4. Select 'Search'
    5. Choose from suggested routes
    6. Select 'Go'




14. Off-Course Alarm
  1. Many Garmin GPSr can be configured to alert the operator when they have wandered off-course.
    1. Open the 'Setup > Marine' page on the GPSr.
    2. Open 'Marine Alarm Setup'.
    3. Enable the 'Off Course Alarm'.
    4. Enter desired distance value:
      • The default distance value of 0.31mi (0.50km) is sufficient for navigating over water.
      • A distance value of 0.01mi (0.02km) will alert when wandering ~52 feet (20 meters) off-course.
      • A distance value of 0.05mi (0.08km) will alert when wandering ~264 feet (80 meters) off-course.




15. Course Alerts
  1. Garmin GPSr capable of navigating courses can alert the user if they deviate from the selected course.
    1. Open the 'Setup > Routing' page on the GPSr.
    2. Open 'Course Alerts'.
    3. Select 'On' to enable 'Course Alerts'.
    4. Select 'Off' to disable 'Course Alerts'.
