This sounds like the Oregon x00/x50 Master Reset procedure found at GPSrChive > Oregon x00/x50 > Miscellaneous > M1.Daveb10780 wrote: Fri Jul 25, 2025 9:17 am I have always followed the Turn off the Oregon, press and hold the upper left corner of the screen and power the unit on process.

I also believe this procedure shouldn't work in the Oregon 700; it didn't work in the previous
Oregon 6X0 model, but the software version (6.0) given was questionable.
Perhaps both procedures work in the Oregon 700, which I doubt.

Re: Oregon 700 stuck at Garmin Logo
Interestingly I had this problem today while caching in the wind and rain, oops. I couldn't get the screen corner touch method to work and eventually the two button trick worked and by 700 was reinitialized with its default profiles. When the device recovered I got a low battery warning so I must have replaced with some low charge rechargeables. On reflection this might also have been the case last time I had this problem over a year ago.

The plot thickens. Yesterday I had the same problem with hang at the logo. This was directly after replacing a set of batteries, these are rechargeable ENELOOP. I went through the reset procedure but luckily stopped before the reset. I then replaced my original batteries that were not far off rundown, same make. Would you beleive the GPS started with no problem
. Maybe in my case it was a problem with the specific battery set? In any case time this happens I will try the same fix or possibly a set of non rechargeables.

You should consider carrying a set or two of Energizer Lithium AA just for these scenarios. They don't loose their charge over time, work in all climates, and are very light!

Thanks, I think that is excellent advice and one I will follow in future.
